Life Coaching Courses - What If You Cannot Afford Life Coaching Courses

By: Regina Maniam

Life coaching courses are becoming increasingly popular as a means of achieving great things in life. While life coaching courses are less expensive compared to one-to-one life coaching, they can still be high enough to be not affordable for quite a number of people. So, what options are open to these people?

1. Form A Self Life Coaching Club
Get a group of people and form a club. Meet weekly or fortnightly and discuss topics that are of use to the club members.

A good idea will be to list the topics that the members would like to focus on and schedule them beforehand. This way the members can come prepared for the meeting.

Another twist to this could be if each of the members took turns to read a book or do some research in the internet and share some new ideas with the team.

Do take care though in the selection of the members. If this is not done properly, the club can drag you down instead of improving. If, unfortunately, you pick a group of complainers or whiners, then it will be a downward spiral.

Exchanging ideas and learning is good. This needs to be reinforced with an action plan for each of the members. Review the actions at the following meeting and celebrate your successes and encourage where the going is not so good.

2. Join A Group With Similar Interests
The alternative to forming a club is joining a group that shares similar interests.

There are many groups that focus on different subjects and can prove to provide amazing support that can help you. It could be fitness, financial management, spiritual subjects, internet marketing and so many other topics.

Check out your workplace, your school or college, surf the net to check for such groups. With facilities like Skype, you could even get on the phone for free and have a meeting in the comfort of your home. And you are not limited by geography.

3. Buy A Life Coaching Program
Buying a Life coaching program is another possibility, where you can have access to information and facilitation methods of a real coach behind the materials.

In making the choice, consider both the person who prepared it and the type of materials provided versus the price you need to pay.

Check out on what else the person has done and feedback by others who have bought the program. With the internet, you can possibly get a lot of research done. If for whatever reason you like the sound of this person, you are more open to receiving the person's guidance.

The other aspect are the materials. Is it just a book that you read? Are you the type that can internalize and reinforce by reading? Will you take action based on just reading? Will exercises and quizzes help? Will audios and videos help?

Look at what will get results for you and what is the cost. You then need to make a decision and at this point, it will probably be based on the budget that you have allocated.

Of course, if you decided you like one that costs more, you can delay it long enough to save or check out if they provide staggered payments.

4. Attend Life Coaching Workshops
If you had more money to spare, you could attend life coaching workshops. Here again, you need to look into the person behind this course as well as the course agenda.

Of course, you will not have access to the coach or the facilitator after the workshop, but the workshop with its exercises will be able to give you a booster to get you started off.

A good idea is to form a team with some of the attendees. You can then meet with them periodically and support each other. Since you attended the same program, it will be much easier to encourage each other.

5. Join A Life Coaching Club
If you had yet more money, then you could join a life coaching club. You can then have continued guidance from the coach. Will not have one-on-one coaching but is still better than attending a workshop. Sometimes, you may have an opportunity for a one-to-one session with the coach.

The same guidance applies as for a coaching program or a workshop. Coaching clubs have different focus items. Make sure that they are along what it is that you are looking for.

Again, get some feedback on both the coach and the program to ensure that it will be worth your money. Also, check out the size of the group. Too large a group will mean that there will not be sufficient time for interaction.

Having done the selection, remember that whether you succeed will very much depend on how committed you are to achieving results.

There are many life coaching courses. If you cannot find one that is suitable or that fits your budget, do not be in a hurry to get into one. In the meanwhile, read a book or find a program in the internet. There are many that provide introductory life coaching courses that you can start with. Meanwhile keep looking. You will be able to find a suitable one soon enough.
